Half Human
Half Human - US version (1955) Rewatch? ✅
I love this film so so much, it’s pretty close to the pinnacle of complete tat.
It’s got everything a Rob could ever need, John Carradine explaining the story, wonderfully static shots of people sitting at desks discussing the plot, narration over a film that’s originally in Japanese and as a consequence losing anything that made the slightest bit of sense as it goes and then there’s whatever is left of the original monster movie too. I really should find a way of watching the unbutchered version at some point but I’m kinda reticent solely because I love this big mess far too much.
It’s such a hilariously poor job, the kind that makes Jerry Warren seem like a subtle and careful hand, that it coalesces into B movie tat brilliance and as ever, no matter how bad the film may be, John Carradine manages to carry it in almost impossible ways. The whole scientists having a chat thing, oh man, look - it’s awesome, all of it is awesome.
