Tatwatch (Chilling With The Robots)

Curtains

Curtains (1983) Rewatch? ❎

I’m not entirely sure why I’ve never really bothered to watch Curtains before but having now sat down and watched the thing, I can only respect whatever choices led me to avoid it. Clearly past me knew what they were doing.

Gosh, it’s rough going. One of those films where almost every scene is inexplicable and nobody is going to be able to make any sense of why anything at all is happening. That, in and of itself, can make for a great tat film and it’s not necessarily going to be a negative for me (often the opposite, such is the tat life) but the mess of a production has just left a mess of a film on this one. The end result is a sort of nonsensical TV movie styled giallo/slasher that is far too gravely serious and, for me at least, joyless and artless to watch.

There’s not many films I end up trawling through on my quest to watch all the tat where I’d struggle to find anything that worked for me whatsoever so given this falls into this category, I won’t dwell on the grumbling and just chalk it up and move along. I guess at least it wasn’t obnoxious, just dull. That’s something, right?
